You must stop at the line. Wait until it is safe before proceeding.

Steep gradient ahead. Use appropriate gear and braking.

e.g. Hilly route requiring careful brake management on a loaded bus.

Fog likely ahead. Use dipped headlights and reduce speed.

e.g. Motorway or open road in poor visibility.

Traffic queues likely ahead. Be prepared to slow or stop.

e.g. Approaching congestion near a city centre bus station.

Cyclists likely to be in the road ahead. Give them plenty of room.

e.g. Urban route with cycle lanes merging into traffic.

Hump-backed bridge ahead. Reduce speed to protect passengers.

e.g. Rural route — standing passengers may lose balance.

Start of motorway regulations. Prohibited vehicles must not enter.

e.g. Coach route joining the motorway network.

Motorway regulations no longer apply.

e.g. Leaving motorway at a service area or junction.

Official parking place for vehicles as shown on supplementary plate.
